GOLDEN RETRIEVER 2

OUR GOLDEN FAMILY CONTINUED...

Kim,
Thought you would get a kick out of seeing Dakota in her Halloween costume.  You can easily tell, by the expression on her face, that she was not really happy about the costume.  She really forgot about it and became much more excited about Halloween when the kids started arriving.

We did take her on her second camping trip and she was a riot chasing the waves.  It was her first time in sand.  She was so excited - running around and around in the sand and the stopping for a minute to dig, dig, dig.  It was her first time to chase seagulls.  All these firsts are so exciting and fun.  She is a fantastic traveler!!!  She was just so much fun to have along.

I really believe that the best thing we did with her was to work on the 'sit' command the very first day we had her.  She was the only one in the class that would automatically go to sit for her treat after completing a command.  I have even thought about going on to the Obedience classes and maybe even the Agility.  She really is a fun dog to work with. Kim,
Thought you might like to see how Dakota has grown.  She is up to almost 40 pounds now.  Her coat is a lovely honey gold with red highlights - very pretty.  She loves the snow - thank goodness because we sure have enough of it.  However, I am really looking forward to warmer weather and being able to get outside to go for walks with her and play ball.  She loves to go for rides in the car, but hates getting in and out of the car.  All in all, we are having a great time with her.  Dariel 1/09

Kim, Thought it was time for an update regarding our dear Dakota.  She is doing great and is loving the warm weather.  She will beg to come in and then, 10 minutes later, beg to go back outside.  The photos are of Dakota and one of her favorite toys.  It was a giant Frisbee that at one time had a cloth inside - she took care of that rather rapidly.  She loves to put her head through and wear it as a collar.  She is so much fun to watch and to play withAs you can see, her color turned out to be a lovely honey color.  In certain lights it looks more red and in other light it looks more honey gold.  All in all, a very beautiful dog.  Thanks again, Dariel 5/09

Hi Kim, We are surviving the heat - but otherwise doing well.  Dakota is just fine.  She outgrew the "runt" status and has turned out to be well within the standard size for a Golden.  I would guess her weight at between 55 and 60 lbs.  I am sending a photo of her that I just took.  As you can see, she has a beautiful honey golden coat.  I wish you could see her tail - it is just gorgeous!!  She is still very much a puppy but I think we have turned a positive corner.  She now will stay with me when I take her outdoors - eliminating the leash while we are in the yard.  She will even go over to her chain and sit and wait for me to put in on her.  When I let her run, all I have to do is clap and she runs right to the back door.  At night, when she is ready to go to sleep, she puts herself in the crate.  She still loves to pick papers out of the wastebasket and tear them up - but it's better than chewing up shoes or furniture .  She did dig up half of my flower garden, which is why she is back on the chain when I can't watch her every minute.  But she is really a good dog.  Please do pass my email on to your customer.  I would be very happy to relate our experience.  As always, Dariel 6//09

Hi Kim,  Just wanted to let you that Maizie made here all good. She was a little scared when I picked her up, but she warmed up by the time we got to the car. She is absolutly the best little girl!!! She slept in her crate really well last night, only cried for a minute. Already figured out that the cat is not her play-mate, without any injuries to either one, (the cat may never speak to me again, though). Has gotten used to her harness and leash, and knows where to go potty, too. I'll send some pictures soon. Thanks so much, I know we are going to have lots of fun, she's the best!!!    Talk to you soon, Nancy 11/08
