Q u e s t i o n s a n d A n s w e r s P a g e Q: Will my puppy have any shots or be dewormed prior to me receiving it? A: Your puppy will have it's first set of shots and wormings. This will include: 4 1/2 weeks - Kennel Cough Internasal 2, 4, & 6 weeks - Wormings with Pyrantel 5 weeks - Parvo shot 3 days prior to shipping - Worming with Panacur 6 1/2 weeks - Puppy Combination shot Q: Will my puppy see a vet before shipping? A: All puppies will visit a vet before shipping. This is done between 7 and 8 weeks. A health certificate will be issued with your puppy. This will accompany them during their trip. We also ask that when you get your puppy you take it to the vet within the first 72 hours. This ensures you that you have a healthy puppy and it ensures us that the puppy will be acquainted with your vet. It is very important at this age that your puppy gets it's shot boosters. Your vet will tell you when the next shots are due. Q: What is included with my puppy? A: When you purchase a puppy from Lakeland Acres, you will receive the following: Happy, healthy puppy; travel crate (if shipping is needed); f flight costs (if shipping is needed); complete shot/deworming records; health certificate from licensed vet; small bag of puppy food to get you started; puppy papers and pedigree (where applicable); and a year written genetic health guarantee. Q: I have never had a puppy before, can I call you with questions after I receive my puppy? A: Most definately!!! We love to hear from you and love to get those pictures! It is a big step to get a puppy and if we can walk you through any "ruff" spots, we are more than happy to help. Your puppy tips will also cover some of those situations such as potty training, etc. Q: What feed does my puppy currently eat and what should I feed it when it gets here? A: We feed our puppies a puppy food that is made in Nebraska and not found in most areas. We will send a small bag of this food with your puppy to get you started. You should choose a good quality puppy food for your puppy. If you are unsure of what to feed, talk with your vet and find out what they suggest. I will have tips to help you switch by mixing my bag with yours to mix my food out of their system. Q: I realize my puppy just has started his/her shots, when can I take them to the park around other dogs? A: Your puppy will have his/her basic puppy shots. The combination puppy shot will need at least 2 more boosters to cover your puppy. Since every puppy is different and their immunities are all different, it's hard to say exactly when they are completely covered by the shots. It is best to determine a shot schedule with your vet and discuss this with them. Some areas also require different immunizations which should also be taken into account. |
